In our opening thriller sequence we choose to use little dialogue this is due to believing by having less dialogue it engages the audience to the film. It also makes them want to continue watching the film as they are more intrigued into what is going to happen next which is the target of an opening to a film. The idea of little dialogue if not any was inspired to myself by watching the film 'Brick' in the opening scene no speech is used and personally when i watch the film made me want to watch more and find out what was going to happen next. I like how the music almost did the 'talking' for the film and i wanted to take this idea when creating my thriller. Below is the opening to "Brick".
The Script
Grace - when entering the house "hello"
Grace - looking round the kitchen door "is anybody here"
Grace - going up the stairs "hello the front door was open"
When hanging the photo up Grace screams this gives the idea that the murderer is remembering her scream when he killed her, it also helps to add to the eerie atmosphere that is created.
Claire - when being given the ring "i thought we agreed no presents"
