In our group we produced a rough edit of the thriller in imovie so that we could get feedback on what people thought. This also allowed to use the feedback and therefore make improvements when we come to edit our opening in the programe final cut. We posted our opening on you tube and email it to many people to see what was thought. As this was a rough version there will be many alterations made such as scene shorten, edits improved and more footage added. The email which we sent contained a survey aswell so that we had more controlled feedback. Here is the survey http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/NGJ7P3K
Below i have featured some of the feedback which we got from emailing and posting the thriller on you tube.
"Great idea to the film with the photos at the end. Camera angles with nice smooth movements were good and the vignetting which gave it a moody and creative finish.
Did you do any colour grading to it? Possibly a close up of the door handle showing how slowly and silently the killer is moving may have worked but it's good as it is. It's unconventional with a woman as the killer aswell. The continuity is good, can't seem to see anything out of place, but I am on my phone so can't see the full quality of it. Same about sound, I'll have to listen to it when I'm on a laptop.
Good job overall, well put together little short. With these types of shorts I can imagine a few dolly shots giving it an unnatural and eery feel, but it still works without." - Mark, 18.
"I think it's great, espesh the vignetting in some shots and the overall idea, although I'd change the opening music a bit." - Jack, 16.
"Pretty cool, film quality's a little sketchy but you said this was rough anyway so yeah, it looks pretty awesome."
As you can see some are more detailed than others. We will upload more results soon. - Adam, 17.
"Its a really good short film thing :)
We also did a screening in college to see what students thought of the opening. We choose to give out the same survey as the one featured on the survey monkey.
But I agree to what NPGigs (Nathan) said, make the music a little louder as I couldnt hear it either :)"
Hannah
Some of the feedback is more detailed then others but we are doing a screening in college soon too and therefore will gain more feedback. We will then look into the comments before beginging our edits in final cut.
You have received some very useful feedback here - it's a shame you haven't added a comment explaining what you intend to change as a result.
